InfoHub Objectives
The InfoHub section of this site has been developed for Victorian women and their organisations. QVWC's project partners WIRE - Women's Information and Women's Health Victoria have contributed extensively to support the development and implementation of the InfoHub.
The selection of information resources for InfoHub is based on delivering the following objectives:
-
To provide trusted online information developed by women for women to assist women to develop their full capacity.
-
To provide a capacity-building hub for women and women’s organisations across Victoria.
-
To build on existing networks and activities of the wide range of women’s organisation and communities.
-
To encourage more effective use of community resources through a coordinated approach to information provision.
-
To enable women to work together for social change, to address critical social issues, and to share information and resources.
The InfoHub is part of the InfoHub and Capacity Builder Project.
InfoHub content sections are provided by or drawn from the advice of women who are experts in their area. Cluster members (clusters are women’s networks) have identified key topics and subtopics that ‘map’ the special interest subject. Under the topics and subtopics, links are selected to best assist women and their organisations to access information and services to achieve their goals.
New clusters and additional topics and subtopics will be added to InfoHub over time.
InfoHub Content Selection Criteria
InfoHub link information is provided in such a way as to promote and address the needs of women as they are defined and expressed by women themselves. The content aims to empower women to make informed decisions. It is not intended to advise on a specific course of action.
To ensure quality assurance when developing, selecting or reviewing content, the following quality information guidelines have been considered:
-
The information and resources will enhance women’s power to overcome barriers, build their capacity and reach their full potential.
-
The information covers a depth and breadth of issues that is clearly defined by women and is appropriate to their needs.
-
The information provided is drawn from a broad and reputable knowledge base with an awareness of new and emerging issues.
-
Feminist approaches have been considered and in specific topic areas additional criteria may be applied, for example the Health and Wellbeing cluster requires consideration of the social model of health, complementary therapy and self-help approaches.
-
Material is not prescriptive but includes and clearly identifies the varying degrees of evidence, anecdotes and women’s experiences.
-
Improve translation of research and evidence into better practice, women-focused services and public policy.
-
Promotes women’s activism and women’s causes to address social disadvantages and effect social change.
Responsibility for Content Selection and Development
Responsibility for selecting and developing potential content for the InfoHub section of the website lies with the cluster groups.
Sources of potential content:
-
Work arising from clusters and associated task groups.
-
Material coming into the clusters – mail, email, fax and from this website.
Content Review
In order to ensure ongoing relevance and accuracy of the content of the information, each cluster group is responsible for leading the regular review of material in their relevant section of the website.
The review of content also takes into account feedback and consultation from users/visitors to the website.
Authentication
Cluster group participants and contributors will be identified on the website for the purpose of authenticating the content related to each subject area.
