Hysterectomy

Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus (womb) and sometimes includes the removal of the ovaries as well. Hysterectomies are not performed as often as they were in the past, but there are a number of reasons why one might be recommended.  It is important for women to access information in order to understand whether they need a hysterectomy, what the alternatives are, and what happens before, during and after the procedure.
